IMPERIAL CITYS AND SAHARA TOUR

Day 1: ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN

We will pick you up from the airport and deliver you to the riad in the Medina.

DAY 2: EXPLORING MARRAKECH

After enjoying your breakfast in the riad, you can start exploring Marrakech, “the Red City of Morocco”.
Your guide will bring you to the cultural and historical highlights of the city, including the Saadian tombs,Bahia Palace and the Ben Youssef Coranique school. You will also enjoy leisurely strolling through the souks,filled with the exotic sights and smells of this ancient city. Lunch will be taken at a restaurant near the square.
The afternoon includes a tour of the Majorelle Gardens and the Koutoubia Tower.

DAY 3: MARRAKECH–ESSAOUIRA–MARRAKECH

After breakfast in the riad, we will travel to the seaside city of Essaouira, formerly known as “Mogador”.
Essaouira means “the little rampart”, which refer to the fortress walls that enclose part of the city. The city
has been influenced by many cultures, including the Portugese and French during their occupation. The
city is also known as Morocco’s “Jewel of the Atlantic”, due to its blue doors and washed walls.

The area in and around Essaouira is the land of Argan cultivation. You may notice the goats in the argan trees foraging
for the fruits of the tree, which they often prefer to what they find on the ground. You will have the opportunity to visit
a women’s argan co-operative, where the world famous oil is extracted and processedfor its many uses in cooking, cosmetics
and medicine.

Arriving approximately midday, we begin our exploration of the city, to include the Mellah, or Jewish Quarter and the pier,
where local fisherman sell their daily catches. If it appeals to you, we may choose to enjoy an authentic dining experience
by ordering fresh fish cooked to order. Time for wandering around the city markets and exploring this wonderful seaside
city before returning to Marrakech.

DAY 4: MARRAKECH–TICHKA PASS–AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH–DADES VALLEY

After breakfast in the riad we will travel to Ouarzzate and the Dades Valley via Tichka Pass in the High Atlas mountains.
We will enjoy the passage through the mountains and the breathtaking vistas and views of Berber villages. Our first stop
will be at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest in Morocco. Built in the late 19th century by the last Berber chieftain,
El Glaoui Et-Hami, it is now a UNESCO historical site, housing many Glaoui family members. Lunch will be taken by
the Kasbah and we will continue to Ouarzazat, the “Hollywood of Morocco”.

After lunch we travel to tot he Dades Gorge via the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs”, which will give us the opportunity
to photograph the native landscape and people. We will arrive next at Kalaat Mgouna, an area famous for its roses and the annual
festival during the harvest in May. Here we will explore the Berber Souk of Kalaat Mgouna, then continue to Bouthaghrar,
along the Valley of the Roses. From here on to the Dades Valley, where you will enjoy seeing the unusual and compelling rock
formation known as the “monkey toes”.

DAY 5: DADES GORGE–TODRA GORGE–MERZOUGA

After breakfast in the hotel, we will journey to Merzouga via the Todra Gorge and the small towns of Erfoud and Rissani.
While in the Todra Gorge you will enjoy the panoramic view of the old Berber villages overlooking the valley and the have
the opportunity to walk under the 300m-high red cliff, popular with rock climbers from all over the world. An hour’s hike
within the valley before continuing to Erfoud and Rissani. After lunch we depart for the village of Merzouga. Here you will
enjoy the customary Berber welcome of mint tea before checking into your riad.

DAY 6: MERZOUGA, SAHARA

After breakfast, we will begin an exploration of the area. Here we will visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves from the Sudan,
enjoying their music and culture. Close by is the lake of Merzouga, often filled with various migratory bird populations, depending
on the season. We will also visit the souk of Rissani, where you can walk and observe the many native offerings: produce, animals,
traditional crafts. Time permitting, we may also visit the Berber wire house where handicrafts are often much cheaper than in the
larger cities.

In the afternoon, we will mount your camel and trek the sand sea of Merzouga. Enjoy the sunset before eating dinner in the camp
where we will spend the night.

DAY 7: MERZOUGA–ZIZ VALLEY–MIDELT–AZROU–FES

Early morning wake up for the majestic sunrise in the Sahara. We will return by camel to back to Merzouga, taking in the amazing
beauty of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which change their appearance with the changing light of the day. After breakfast in the riad,
we will travel to Fes via Ziz Valley and Azrou. Enjoy the fascinating landscape along the breathtaking Ziz Gorges, carved through
volcanic rock, and throught The Tizi n’Talghamt pass to Midelt. We will stop in Zaida to enjoy an al fresco lunch and refresh ourselves
with a glass of mint tea. A stop at the Cedar Forest in the Middle Atlas mountains where we will see the famous Barbary apes in their
natural habitat. Arrive Fes at end of the day and check into your riad.

DAY 8: EXPLORING FES

We will visit the Medina and the alleyways of the old city in the morning. A walking tour of the narrow streets where we will see
old tanneries and the Quaraouine Mosque and University, the Attarin Medersa and the Najjarin Fountain. After lunch in the Medina,
we will drive into the old Jewish Quarter and the Royal Palace Gate yard. Our tour will include a visit to the art factory and a panoramic
view of the Medina of Fes.

DAY 9: FES–MEKNES-RABAT

After breakfast we well trael to Rabat via Volubilis and Meknes. We will journey over the Rif Mountains and the foothills of Zgouta.
Arriving at Volubilis, the most amazingly well-preserved outpost of the Roman Empire, dating to 25BC. Here you will see the beautiful
mosaics dating to 3rd century BC and learn about the Roman occupation of Morocco.

DAY 10: RABAT-CASABLANCA

After breakfast we will drive you to the airport in Casablanca for your departure flight.
